Summary/Abstract
This pre-print early access study outlines an analysis using georeferenced data on all recorded deaths in the US from 2006 to 2019, coupled with projections of climate-driven increases in wildfire smoke. It predicts significant increases in mortality, estimating 27,800 excess deaths annually by 2050 under a high warming scenario. The research highlights the critical need for policy interventions focused on mitigating and adapting to the effects of wildfire smoke on public health.
